Carolyn Hansen, United Way of Orange County Director of Resource Development, worked for years in a corporate environment while volunteering her free time to nonprofit work. Because of her corporate expertise, she was able to show nonprofits how to operate as if they were businesses, which resulted in an increase of millions of dollars on behalf of their particular advocacies. She is the guru of taking one kind of knowledge and applying it to something else.

Prior to becoming director of resource development for the United Way of Orange County, Carolyn’s years of building corporate mastery are the result of working for Dow Jones & Co. and for New England Financial, where she held several positions. Clients who prospered from her consulting services include Associated Grantmakers of Massachusetts, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, CitiCorp and Raytheon Company. Carolyn is a graduate of Harvard University.
