Hands-On Brand Positioning

Brand positioning is an essential element of a winning brand strategy. Positioning simply refers to how your product or service is viewed in the minds of prospects and customers relative to other products or services available in your market.
Bette Ann Yarus presented the basic tenets of Market Positioning then created attendee workshop groups to discuss solutions to assigned marketing problems. These groups were then be asked to summarize their comments to the larger group. Yarus then summarized the findings of this “hands-on” exercise.
Bette Ann was formerly vice president of Marketing Development for USA Weekend magazine and director of domestic and European automotive sales at USA Today. She was also executive vice president sales of Gannett National Newspaper Sales, which was the corporate advertising sales arm for over 90 newspapers in the United States. Her responsibilities have included sales and sales management, development of strategic alliances and marketing programs, brand development and sales training. She has spent over 30 years with the Gannett Company and has a BS from SUNY at Plattsburgh.
