Rick Remsnyder

Rick's many responsibilities include coordinating the construction of a new interactive tourism website, helping to produce all Ulster County tourism publications and working with the department's advertising agency Marketing Works to market and sell Ulster County as a tourism destination. Other responsibilities include working closely with Ulster County Executive Michael Hein, Ulster County Legislature Chairman David Donaldson, the Ulster County Legislature and the Ulster County Economic Development Corporation to expand the county's economic development within the region. Rick also works closely with the Ulster County Tourism Advisory Board to market the county's 900 tourism businesses.

Rick currently serves as Vice President of the Catskill Association for Tourism Services. In 2008, Ulster County received Honorable Mention for Outstanding Travel Guide from the North American Journalists Travel Association, the first time the county has been honored for its travel guide by a national association.

Prior to his apointment as Ulster County Tourism Director, Rick worked as the Marketing Director for 3 1/2 years at the Nevele Grande Resort and Country CLub in Ellenville. Rick worked for 12 years as a Sportswriter and Columnist for the Journal News in White Plains where his primary responsibilities included covering professional golf and professional and college sports. He has covered more than 40 majors in the U.S. and Europe, the Ryder Cup and other significant professional events on the PGA Tour, the LPGA Tour and the Champions Tour.

Rick also covered county and city government and was a sports writer and columnist for the Daily Freeman for 12 years. Rick has won numerous journalism awards during his career, including first-place awards for outstanding reporting from the National Women's Sports Foundation, United Press International, the New York State Associated Press Association, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and the American Heart Association.
